Some folks aren’t feeling entirely great about themselves right about now after someone showed the part of their air fryer that they never clean.

People seem to love the little kitchen gadgets to an almost cult-like degree, but do they love it enough to clean every nook and cranny of their precious culinary darling?

Apparently not, as while you might give most parts a good scrubbing to expunge the traces of food that were cooked in there you probably missed a spot.

It’s alright, you can’t always get it spick and span every single time, but if you never give it a good clean out the mess begins to be baked in.

That’s what one person discovered when they was cleaning their air fryer and made the classic error of looking up around the heating element to discover a nest of nastiness.

Obviously they felt compelled to post the grimy results to TikTok and it seems as though a lot of people really wished they hadn’t seen it.

“The underside of my air fryer is none of my business,” was one of the more popular responses as it seems as though many kitchen aficionados reckon seeing is believing, so as long as they don’t look it’s not a problem.

Someone else joked ‘I don’t know what you’re taking about, I don’t see anything’, while a third said ‘thanks for sharing, now I’ll never get an air fryer’.

Plenty decided they’d rather ignore what they’d just seen and carry on their lives in blissful ignorance, though others pointed out the obvious design flaw in this method.

“Use until fire, then buy a new one,” was a popular alternative to cleaning the things, and there have been some cases of an unwanted inferno.

Let’s be honest, all around the house are things we should probably keep a lot cleaner than we do.

Lots of guys are very attached to their ‘yellow pillow’ and all the accumulated nastiness that’s seeped into it over the years, to the point that some are flabbergasted when it gets washed.

On top of that, when’s the last time you washed or changed those towels you’ve been using for the past few days?

Then there’s all the accumulated grime on various other kitchen appliances beyond the air fryer.

How clean is your actual oven or your microwave?

Really, what we’re saying here is that you might want to figure out how to get on top of the accumulated muck before it all gets sealed in and almost un-shiftable.

Many are calling it a ‘game changer’.

Someone else said they felt like they’d been ‘conned for years’ by going their entire life without knowing this.

One person even said ‘this must be how surgeons felt when they discovered the linea alba’, which I assume was a major breakthrough in surgery.

So what is the monumental development that has come to enlighten our lives with new information?

It’s all about how you’re supposed to open one of those big bags of Haribo, you know the one you’re supposed to share or eat in several sittings but usually gobble all at once.

My friends, I too was sceptical when I first heard about this, as there are so many instances where people are supposed to be left ‘mind-blown’ at relatively mundane and unimpressive things.

However, having witnessed this stunning Haribo manoeuvre I have seen the light and become a believer.

You see, it’s all in how you unwrap the bag to reveal the goodies contained within and a viral video is showing us all how it’s supposed to be done.

For years we’ve been tearing the bags apart at the top like Neanderthals or peeling off a corner as though we’d just barely discovered how to make fire.

No longer, dear reader, not since this new technique has been unveiled to us for you see, it’s really all in how you peel it open from that little tab thing at the top.

You know, the little tab of plastic which is partially cut out so the pack can be dangled tantalisingly from a metal rod at a supermarket.

It appears as though all one needs to is take firm hold of that tab and pull it downwards, tearing open a thin strip in the middle of the bag to grant access to the Haribo within.

But that’s not all!

It turns out that this clever mechanism also allows one to reseal the bag until later, as pulling the tab and strip of plastic around the bag and resealing it in the hole at the top keeps your gelatinous goodies within the confines of safety.

Needless to say, people all over the globe were rocked to their very core to learn about this change, which will surely herald a great improvement in the quality of life of so many.

“F**king hell, I think this has changed my life,” one declared with utter sincerity.

Several people declared that ‘my life has been a lie’ up until the point where they learned this crucial information, while another was sure that ‘you’ve gotta be s**tting me to the fullest extent’.

Others said they were going to buy a big bag of Haribo to ‘try this’, not that you’d need much provocation to do that.

“Thank a packaging engineer,” someone else added, and it’s true that we ought to pay respect to the real heroes of this world.

To the packaging engineers near and far who come up with such innovations as these, we salute you.

Despite staring at them for hours on end while out on the open road, a lot of drivers don’t have a clue what those black dots on their car windscreen are actually for.

However, it turns out that this distinctive design choice is a lot more important than you might think, as it’s not just a pretty pattern which jazzes up the glass screen on the front of your whip.

These days, the majority of cars are kitted out with all sorts of fancy technology to make life easier for motorists.

There’s the ‘off’ button which you need to stay far away from, swanky air filtering systems, and that weird circle that sits on your dashboard – but before all of these came along, there was the humble ‘frit’.

This term describes the black dots or lines which border a car windscreen that are also sometimes known as ‘dot matrices’.

Although they do add to the aesthetic and make the transition to the rest of the glass a bit subtler, these spots have a much more important purpose than simply adding to a vehicle’s appearance.

So, let’s have a look at some fun facts about frits.

A frit helps to distribute temperature evenly across the glass screen.

As a result of this, the chance of optical distortions and lensing is drastically reduced for drivers.

That’s because when there is too much heat in one part of the glass, it will impact your vision of the road as straight lines can appear curved or bowed inwards.

Therefore, frits make it a smoother and safer journey.

Experts at Autoglaze explained that this vision-bending phenomenon occurs when ‘the frit band (the solid black one) heats up much faster than the windscreen’s glass’.

It creates an optical distortion ‘that makes either straight lines look curved or bowed inwards toward the centre’.

The ‘gradually sinking’ black dots dissipate the heat and spread it out evenly, lessening the potential of a warped view of the roads for motorists.

The handy dots also help to ‘preserve the urethane sealant used to bond the glass to the frame’, which keeps your windscreen firmly in place.

As well as this, they serve as a ‘contact point between the glass and car frame’.

Autoglaze explained: “They create etches on the surface, making them rougher so the adhesive can stick better to the glass.

“Frits are also there for aesthetic purposes. If you look closely, the contrast between the dark band and the transparent glass can look too obvious even when viewed from afar.

“Creating a halftone pattern or dot-matrix allows a gradual decrease in size, making the transition much more subtle and easier on the eyes.”

This was news to a lot of social media users, who took to Reddit to share their amazement after finding out more about frits.

One said: “That is brilliant and simple. So simple that it isn’t believable but so believable that it can’t be that simple!”

Another said: “I am stunned at the amount that I have learned about frit today.”

A third added: “Huh.. I always thought they had some type of functionality like defrosting the windows.”

And a fourth chimed in: “To adhere and protect. Sounds like a good life purpose!”
