Jennifer Lawrence revealed that she’s still lost on the plot of one of her most successful movies, despite being in a relationship with its director at the time.
The 34-year-old is now happily married to Cooke Maroney with a second child on the way, but the star continues to be overly eager to share details about her private life.
Rising to stardom as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games film series, Lawrence also won an Oscar for her role in 2012 movie Silver Linings Playbook.
However, one of the actor’s films made headlines for an admission that she made on a talk show in 2023.
Released in 2017, the horror film, titled Mother!, directed by Darren Aronofsky, stars Lawrence as the titular character.
The flick follows a poet and his wife, whose calm life becomes a hectic mess when uninvited guests start to show up to their home in the countryside, uninvited.
Described by many viewers as confusing and bizarre, the thriller is shrouded in symbolism and tone rather than character and plot, meaning it can be easy to get lost as the story progresses.
And, it turns out that filmgoers weren’t the only ones who weren’t entirely sure what the fever dream of a movie was trying to say.
In a conversation with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Lawrence admitted she was still baffled by the movie.

The host asked: “On a scale of one to totally confused, how much did you understand your film Mother!?”
Lawrence responded: “I’m going to be honest. Well, I was sleeping with the director, so I had CliffsNotes. So… five? Or a four. But if anybody needs any tips on understanding their films, you know what to do!”
When Cohen joked back, “F*** the director?,” Lawrence replied: “Yeah!”
The actor tried to explain the film’s plot in an interview with Deadline in 2017.
“The most important thing to know about this film before seeing it is that it’s all allegory. It’s all metaphor that’s tied to this narrative. It’s the creation and decimation of the universe, including Biblical themes and creation of religion,” she said.
“I represent Mother Earth, and what I have is Baby Jesus – if we guess the religion. I play this woman who has built this home from the ground up. I’m in a relationship with an artist who is obsessed with needing appreciation from me first, and then I’m not enough.”

Lawrence dated Aronofsky, who also directed Black Swan, for a year before they broke up in November 2017.
J-Law also revealed that with the director thinking of Mother! as ‘his baby,’ she found it hard to relax.
In an interview with Variety, she said: “Normally, I promote a movie, ask people to go see it, and then it’s just out of your hands.
“I normally just kind of let it go. Dating the director was different. We’d be on the [press] tour together, and that’s all he wants to talk about, and I get it. It’s his baby.
He wrote it. He conceived it. He directed it. I was doing double duty trying to be a supportive partner while also being like, ‘Can I please, for the love of God, not think about Mother! for one second?’”
Jennifer Lopez was awkwardly put on the spot amid Ben Affleck divorce speculation swirling around the internet.
The celebrity couple have been married since 2022, and some reports have alleged that the pair, who famously split in 2004, are going through a rough patch.
Affleck, 51, is reportedly living at his own place in Brentwood, as Lopez, 54, was spotted last week (16 May) with her wedding ring on.

However, the rumour-mill has seriously been in overdrive after Lopez ‘liked’ a brutal break-up post on social media.
The post read: “You can’t build a relationship with someone who is disconnected from themselves.
“We can’t expect someone to see us when they can’t even see themselves.
“Getting in a relationship is the easy part. Nurturing and fostering it is a different story.
“After all, love is not a feeling, it’s action.”

Amid all the speculation, Lopez was asked directly about her relationship during a press conference for her new Netflix film Atlas in Mexico City on Wednesday (May 22).
The journalist asked: “Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumours?
“What is the truth? Para le press le Mexicana [for the Mexican press], what is the truth of the situation?”
Lopez’s co-star Simu Liu, immediately chimed in: “Ok, we’re not doing that.
“Don’t come in with that energy, please.”
The ‘On the Floor’ singer then made her own comment, adding: “You know better than that.”
After the clip went viral on social media, fans were quick to voice their opinion, as one person wrote: “She looks so hurt when asked that question. They should just leave her alone.”
And second added: “Instead of being asking about Ben Affleck ask questions about her work and her next projects that’s what people care to know not her private life that’s her problem not ours.”
A third also said: “Give her some space!!! She looks very uncomfortable with the question.”
“She went to promote her movie, not to mention her private life,” penned a fourth.
While another argued: “Okaaay but you put your whole love life out there, (private letters and all) in a movie! And you wanna shame someone for asking about it?”
Lopez has been out promoting the new sci-fi film without her husband.
LADbible has contacted representatives of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck for comment.
Jennifer Lawrence as ever, is one of the most honest celebrities in Hollywood.
From admitting to sleeping with a film director to making big mistakes in her career, the actor isn’t afraid of spilling the beans.
This time, the 34-year-old has opened up about a little mishap on the set of Red Sparrow, while explaining what it was like working with director Francis Lawrence.
The 2018 film sees Lawrence play Dominika Egorova, a former ballerina turned Russian spy, who is forced into situations where she must use her body as a weapon.
Dominika is coerced into the dangerous world by her uncle, Ivan Egorov (played by Matthias Schoenaerts), a high-ranking Russian intelligence officer.
One scene in particular at the Sparrow School, Dominika is ordered to strip in front of her peers to demonstrate the power of her body.
It basically highlighted the psychological manipulation and dehumanisation she experiences as part of her training.
On having to get nude in front of the film crew, Lawrence told a press conference for the film: “The reality of shooting them is so different from watching.
“With Francis, he’s almost a paternal figure to me and the camera guys I’ve know since I was little.
(Murray Close/20th Century Fox)
“It was almost like being in a nude house, like those families who get naked in front of each other.
“It felt like that. Like, I accidentally flashed the camera guys and they were like, ‘Oh my god!’
“You create a sense of privacy. You only have the people that need to be there and that footage only goes to me and the editor — it doesn’t go to the studio, it doesn’t go to the producers. So they feel protected in that way.”
Last year, movie No Hard Feelings saw Lawrence bare it all by doing her first fully-nude scene.

When she finds herself without a car, her 32-year-old character responds to an advert from a couple of desperate parents who are looking for someone to ‘date’ their 19-year-old son.
Lawrence told Variety: “Everyone in my life and my team is doing the right thing and going, ‘Are you sure? Are you sure? Are you sure?’ I didn’t even have a second thought. It was hilarious to me.”
co-star, 21-year-old Andrew Barth Feldman added: “Every situation that these characters end up in, you’re laughing your butt off. We became so close instantly that nothing ever felt weird or unsafe. It was entirely professional.”
It’s hard to believe it, but it’s been 25 years since American Pie was released.
That’s right – a quarter of a century has somehow passed since we first watched Jason Biggs’ intimate experiment with a warm apple pie and got introduced to the sex-mad Steve Stifler. Where’s the time gone, eh?
It also means that it has been more than two decades since we first met Jeanine Stifler – better known as Stifler’s mom.
The gig was Jennifer Coolidge‘s big break and she has become synonymous with the iconic role which was responsible for making her a mainstream sex symbol – and by god did she make the most of it.
You probably wouldn’t believe it, but the actress was still in her prime at the age of 38 when she played the role of the MILF who all the lads in the fictional town of East Great Falls in Michigan went wild for.
So who can blame Coolidge for reaping the rewards which came her way while she had the chance?
The 62-year-old, from Boston, Massachusetts, set pulses racing with her role as the sexy older woman who seduced teen Paul Finch in the hit 1999 flick.
And it turns out that off camera, the role gave Coolidge’s love life an unexpected boost too.

Speaking to Variety in 2022, the White Lotus star said: “I got a lot of play being a MILF and I got a lot of sexual action from American Pie. There were so many benefits to doing that movie.
“I mean, there would be like 200 people that I would never have slept with.”
I suppose it’s quite fitting really, seen as the plot of American Pie is pretty much preoccupied by sex.
Coolidge had appeared in a few movies prior to the legendary 1999 film about a bunch of high school students who all want to lose their virginity before the year is finished.
Her role was just as legendary as the movie franchise itself and she got to play the character four times for American Pie, American Pie 2, American Wedding and American Reunion.

However, in her interview with Variety, she lamented about being typecast after playing Jeanine Stifler and Paulette Bonafonté Parcelle in the Legally Blonde films and felt no one in Hollywood wanted her to play serious roles.
“The saddest thing about life is that you just make decisions about yourself,” she said. “If I’m not getting great roles, I come to the conclusion that people think I’m incapable of that.
“And then I make the decision that I am incapable of that. You actually have to have a [White Lotus director] Mike White that comes in and says, I think you can do this.”
Thankfully, her role as Tanya McQuoid in the HBO series has helped elevate her status in Hollywood and even earned the star her first Emmy Award nomination.
Petition to get Coolidge a belated Oscar for her role as Stifler’s mom, anyone?
American Pie star Jennifer Coolidge says she slept with more than 200 people thanks to her role as Stifler’s mum.
The 62-year-old star was catapulted to fame after she landed the part of MILF Jeanine Stifler – or Stifler’s mum as she’s better known – in the popular movie franchise.

Thankfully, her role as Tanya McQuoid in the HBO series has helped elevate her status in Hollywood.
The way she played the hilarious and odd character has even earned her her first Emmy Award nomination.
Variety said her performance in the show ‘cemented a career renaissance’, which was ‘more nourishing for how long Coolidge waited to deliver it’.
The actor added: “I have done one thing really right in my life… I’ve picked great friends.
“If Mike was never successful, and we just did White Lotus as a play in a little theatre where everyone paid 10 bucks to see it, it would still be one of the greatest things that ever happened to me.
“Because it was a killer job that no one else thought I could do.”
