Celebrities and fans rally to support Taylor Swift after she was booed at Super Bowl LIX

Super Bowl LIX delivered plenty of drama on the field, but one of the biggest shockers of the night had nothing to do with football.

Taylor Swift, who was in attendance at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs, received an unexpectedly hostile reaction from the crowd.

When the pop megastar appeared on the jumbotron, boos erupted throughout the stadium — a moment that quickly went viral.

Swift, always quick on her feet, appeared to catch on to the reaction, offering a hilariously sarcastic side-eye. She was also seen exchanging a nervous glance with rapper Ice Spice before seemingly asking: “What is going on?”

The frosty reception has sparked a wave of support for Swift, with celebrities and fans alike rushing to her defense.

Stars Defend Taylor Swift After Super Bowl Snub

Swift’s friend and tennis legend Serena Williams wasted no time in showing her support, posting on X (formerly Twitter): “I love you @taylorswift13 don’t listen to those booo!!”

Meanwhile, Swifties and NFL fans have taken to social media to call out the reaction, with one user writing: “The booing is so lame like she’s literally just supporting her boyfriend.”

Another added: “People booing as if it’s not her home team and her boyfriend’s team — grow up.”

A third slammed the negativity, saying: “Y’all booing shows how fragile your masculinity is. She will always be richer, more famous, and more talented than you’ll ever be.”

Why Did Eagles Fans Boo Swift?

While some are blaming Eagles supporters for the chilly reception, the backstory goes beyond just team rivalry.

Back in 2023, Swift found herself at the center of a Philadelphia sports debate after telling fans at her Eras Tour show in Philly that lyrics from her song “Gold Rush” referenced her love for the Eagles. However, some fans weren’t sure if she meant the band or the football team.

Swift later clarified: “I saw some people wondering if it was the band Eagles or the team the Eagles. And I love the band the Eagles… But guys, like come on. I’m from Philly. Of course, it’s the team.”

Despite her Philadelphia roots, Swift’s very public support for the Chiefs — and her relationship with Kelce — has clearly rubbed some Philly fans the wrong way.

The Never-Ending Swift-NFL Debate

Swift’s frequent appearances at Chiefs games have been a hot topic among NFL fans, with some arguing that the league and broadcasters focus on her too much. The debate got so intense that even NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had to address it ahead of last year’s Super Bowl.

When asked whether Swift’s presence was part of a scripted NFL storyline, Goodell shut down the theory, joking: “I don’t think I’m that good a scripter, or anybody on our staff… Listen, there’s no way I could have scripted that one. Let’s just put it that way.”

He also praised the singer, adding: “She’s a remarkable performer. She knows great entertainment…She’s the best of the best, and so having her come to NFL games, to have her be a part of that is nothing but a positive.”

Super Bowl LIX’s Star-Studded Moments

Beyond Swift’s headline-making moment, Super Bowl LIX has already delivered plenty of viral moments.

Actors Jon Hamm and Bradley Cooper took the field to introduce their respective teams, but Hamm—a die-hard Chiefs fan—became an instant meme after his voice cracked mid-speech, while Cooper delivered a smooth, confident intro for the Eagles. Fans wasted no time comparing the two.

Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show lit up the stadium, featuring a show-stopping appearance from SZA. And Lamar added more fuel to his fiery feud with Drake when he brought out his rival’s ex onto the field.

And despite the drama, all eyes remain on the Chiefs and Eagles, as Kansas City chases an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl victory.

While Swift may have been booed, one thing is certain – her fans, friends, and fellow celebrities aren’t letting it slide.
