The 35-year-old pop superstar is at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome to cheer on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
But despite being one of the biggest celebrities on the planet, Swift didn’t receive a warm welcome.
When the ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ singer appeared on the jumbotron, the crowd responded with thunderous boos, creating an unexpectedly icy reception.
Watch the moment below:In videos circulating online, the ‘Love Story’ singer appeared to catch on to the reaction by hilariously responding with a mocking side-eye. She was also seen glancing nervously at rapper Ice Spice and appearing to say: “What is going on?”
Swift’s friend, tennis legend Serena Williams, wasted no time in coming to her defense, posting on X (formerly Twitter): “I love you @taylorswift13 don’t listen to those booo!!”
Fans have also voiced their support on social media, with one user writing: “The booing is so lame like she’s literally just supporting her boyfriend.”
Another said: “People booing as if it’s not her home team and her boyfriend’s team grow up,” and a third slammed: “Yall booing shows how fragile your masculinity is. She will always be richer, more famous, more talented than you’ll ever be.”

Some Eagles fans may still be holding a grudge over the Grammy-winning singer’s past comments about the football team.
Back in 2023, Swift told the crowd at the Eras Tour show in Philadelphia that lyrics from her song ‘Gold Rush’ were inspired by her love for the Eagles – but some fans weren’t sure whether she meant the band or the football team.
Swift later clarified: “There was sort of a, I don’t know how large the debate was, but I did see the debate about how a lyric that says ‘with my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door’ … I saw some people wondering if it was the band Eagles or the team the Eagles.”
“And I love the band the Eagles,” Swift noted, before adding: “But guys, like come on. I’m from Philly. Of course it’s the team,” per Billboard.
However, since dating Kelce, Swift has fully embraced Chiefs Kingdom – which clearly hasn’t gone unnoticed by Philly fans.

Swift’s frequent appearances at Chiefs games have sparked ongoing debate among NFL fans. Many have criticized the league and broadcasters for the extensive coverage she receives, with some arguing that it distracts from the game itself.
Even NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the backlash ahead of last year’s Super Bowl, which the singer attended as the Chiefs secured an overtime win against the San Francisco 49ers.
When asked if Swift’s relationship with Kelce was part of a scripted NFL storyline, Goodell shut down the theory, joking: “I don’t think I’m that good a scripter, or anybody on our staff…Listen, there’s no way I could have scripted that one. Let’s just put it that way,” per USA Today.
He went on to praise the artist, saying: “She’s a remarkable performer. She knows great entertainment…She’s the best of the best, and so having her come to NFL games, to have her be a part of that is nothing but a positive.”

Beyond Swift’s booing incident, Super Bowl LIX has already delivered a viral Hollywood moment before kickoff.
Actors Jon Hamm and Bradley Cooper took the field to introduce their respective teams, but Hamm – a die-hard Chiefs fan – became an instant meme after his voice cracked while delivering his hype speech.
Fans immediately compared his shaky moment to Cooper’s smooth and confident intro for the Eagles.
Meanwhile, the night’s star-studded halftime show is set to feature Kendrick Lamar, with special guest SZA.
