Man secretly spent a year learning Korean to surprise his wife and her family during wedding speech

Man secretly spent a year learning Korean to surprise his wife and her family during wedding speech The lad’s well and truly put our Duolingo record to shame

Sure, bringing a bouquet of flowers home for your other half is a cute surprise but it’s got nothing on what this bloke did.

Plus, Ben Carpenter’s dedication to surprising his partner is sure to give you a kick up the arse to actually stick to that new year’s resolution you’ve made to do Duolingo.

That’s because he consistently goes viral on social media after spending a year learning Korean. Yeah, he’s the lad who gave that wedding speech.

You know the video, the one you were all crying over when he surprised his wife and her family after tying the knot.

Putting in a whole load of time to work on his language skills, he didn’t just learn how to say ‘I love you’ and ‘hi my name is Ben’. Oh no, the guy really did learn Korean.

Remembering a whole lot more than that, Ben surprised everyone with his speech.

His speech started off standardly before he shared how he and bride, Sohee, had joked ‘for months’ that it would be ‘cute’ if he learned a little Korean to ‘sprinkle’ into his speech.

But he then began speaking in the language to reveal that, ‘as a show of respect’, he has been ‘secretly taking lessons’.

“When Sohee and I first started dating, she told me in Korean culture, dating a foreigner is frowned upon by many Korean people. I was very scared to meet you, because I felt like maybe I wouldn’t be accepted,” the groom said. “But I was wrong.”

“You welcomed me with a warm heart. Thanks to all of you, we’ve made it this far.

“I’m thankful you’ve accepted me as a new member of the family, and I promise to love and take care of Sohee forever.”

The camera frequently shows his wife’s parents who nod and smile along as Ben fluently delivers the heartwarming speech.

After the speech, Sohee’s parents hug Ben as his wife tears up.

In the TikTok caption, he revealed he had been sneaking off for half an hour at a time for video calls she didn’t know about and often pretended they were for work.

“In bed I would often put one headphone in so she couldn’t hear what I was doing, and turning my screen away so she couldn’t see either,” he wrote.

“I set myself a goal of learning just a teeny tiny bit of Korean as a show of respect to her and her family on our wedding day.”

Well, he’s absolutely smashed that and put our Duolingo records to shame.

Bride gives emotional response to why guests failed to show up to wedding in viral video

Bride gives emotional response to why guests failed to show up to wedding in viral video

The bride has responded to comments about almost nobody turning up to her wedding after sending out 100 invitations

The bride that walked out to a near-empty venue on her wedding day has addressed comments from those online, answering why people didn’t show up to her special day.

TikTok user Kalina Marie went viral for all the wrong reasons last week, as she shared the video of her walking out at her masquerade-themed wedding.

Only three people could be seen in the venue, a far cry from the expected turnout.

Kalina explained on social media that after nine years together and being engaged for four of those years, their wedding had been delayed by the pandemic.

However, in January this year, they finally set a date for October and started dishing out invites.

She explained that she had invited 75 people online, and sent 25 physical invites out to elders and those without social media,

In the end, Kalina said that she received 40 RSVPs, meaning that she expected that many people at her ceremony – but it wasn’t to be, as just five made it.

Voicing her frustration in the caption of the original video, which has over six and a half million views, she wrote: “FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!!!!! Like, are you kidding me!?!? As you see in the video, we enter the venue. And no one is there.”

To add insult to injury, they delayed the event by an hour to see if anyone else would show up, but sadly, after she ‘dreamed’ of walking out to a full room, she was ultimately let down.

However, she finished off saying: “Did we still make the most of it?? You bet your SWEET a** we did…

“But all I know is, I have my man. My baby. And family that shows up when I need them. And for that, I will be thankful.”

After questioning why nobody turned up, Kalina eventually made a full response video, four days after the infamous wedding, answering a comment that said: “So what was the reasoning behind it, all those people just didn’t show, no explanation?”

She first spoke about the process she went through with invitations, revealing that she created a Facebook event, and explained that her mother made food for 40 people, that would now go to waste.

“I checked in with everyone the week of, and at least 20 people had gotten back to me saying that they had an outfit and that they were coming,” she admitted.

Kalina went on: “And the biggest question is why? And I don’t know if I could answer that.

“I would tell you, but no, I haven’t really received a lot of messages explaining why people weren’t there or giving me excuses. And I’m kind of thankful for that,” she claimed.

Concluding, the newly-wed said: “For the most part, we’ve done a lot of deleting and re-evaluating our lives and just spending a lot of time appreciating what We have and what we had.”

Bride concerned after only noticing major red flag during husband’s wedding speech

How would you feel about this?

A bride has taken to the internet for advice after revealing she spotted a ‘red flag’ on her wedding day.

It’s probably not the best time to notice something concerning about your brand new spouse, but nevertheless, the bride was shocked at what she discovered.

Unsure whether she was reading too much into it, the woman took to Reddit to gauge the opinion of others.

She explained that everything had been going well and that her husband is a ‘very sweet and kind person’.

But when it came to his wedding speech, she was left a little stunned.

“So I recently got married to my husband. He is a very sweet and kind person,” she began.

“Well we got married recently and he gave a speech during our wedding reception. It was really sweet and emotional.”

The bride went on to explain there was one part of the speech that left her confused.

“But then he said something like ‘And when we were dating, I knew I have to marry you, as nobody can tolerate you better than me, and I love tolerating you.’

“Everybody laughed and I did as well, as it was supposed to be a fun banter and didn’t think much of it.

“Well, I do get giddy and too excited if I am happy and would talk a lot while my husband is very calm and patient and always listens, but I can see that it could be annoying for others.

“Well, we had a great time and recently came from our honeymoon, but just wondering, do other guys also joke about their spouse like that?”Redditors were quick to point out that the line strongly resembled a scene in Friends in which Chandler says he loves ‘maintaining’ Monica after Phoebe calls her high maintenance.

“Are y’all fans of Friends by any chance? This is very similar to a comment Chandler makes about Monica because all their friends say she’s high maintenance and she doesn’t like that,” one wrote.

“Chandler saves her feelings by saying yes you’re high maintenance but I love maintaining you. Maybe not the best time for your husband to make that comment, but hopefully the intent was good.”

Another said the scene had come into their mind ‘instantly’, too.

A third added: “I doubt the intentions were anything but a loving joke, but there’s a time and place for everything.

“I would mention to him that it made you uncomfortable, but I don’t think it’s worth fighting about.”

Not everyone was so forgiving of the groom though. One simply wrote: “Red flag.”

Another said: “His response will tell you everything. If he’s apologetic and explains that’s not really what he meant (‘I just heard it somewhere and public speaking kind of freaked me out so I just kinda said it, I’m sorry’ etc) then I think you’re fine.

“If he’s defensive or tries to tell you it’s not a big deal and you’re being dramatic, then that’s definitely a red flag to me.”

Woman spent thousands on wedding photos before finding tiny detail that ‘ruined’ everything

Woman spent thousands on wedding photos before finding tiny detail that ‘ruined’ everything

Once you see it, it’s clear as day

We’ve all woken up the morning after a night out, asking our mate to send us those 10/10 group photos so we can do a quick Instagram post, only to discover they’re the worst pics ever taken.

Maybe you had your eyes closed, someone’s head was covering someone else’s face, or some absolute idiot has photobombed in the back.

But it’s never exactly high stakes – just another week without a fresh snap for your Hinge profile.

Except for this woman, where it meant a lot more.

She spent thousands on her wedding photos before finding a tiny detail that ‘ruined’ everything.

Jazmin Thompson has gone viral on TikTok for sharing the photos as she ended up having to pay more to try and fix them.

“When you spend thousands of dollars on wedding photos only to realise…,” she wrote in the on-screen caption over a black-and-white snap of her speech at the reception.

The image then changed to a series of loved-up snaps of her with her husband as she wore a strapless lace white gown and, he had a black suit with a red tie.

And then, with something many of us can deeply relate to, the problem becomes very, very clear.

Thompson was wearing a black hair bobble on her wrist, on hand for if she wanted to tie back her long hair. But while it’s practical, it’s not exactly an accessory most people want clear as day in pictures. Let alone in their wedding photos.

“This is your reminder,” she wrote in the caption with hashtags like ‘weddingcrisis’.

Users commented to say: As a PROFESSIONAL photographer- they should’ve noticed it…..”

Others wondered why the photographer ‘didn’t edit it out’.

Thompson told PEOPLE: “Now it is definitely something to laugh about, but I wish someone would’ve told me sooner.”

The black hairtie did eventually leave her arm, but only after those key professional photos were taken.

She explained she was originally annoyed that no one, including the photographer, had told her about it being on her wrist.

And as a result of the error, she apparently ended up having to pay the photographer another $2,500 (£1,979.40) to edit it out the snaps.

Some users offered to do the editing for her for free, but others did slam: “I’m confused why it’s the photographer’s job to tell you that you have a hair band on your wrist!”

One even asked: “What’s the issue with it?”

Bride left heartbroken entering empty venue after guests failed to show up to wedding

This bride was left shocked on her wedding day when almost nobody turned up to the ceremony after 100 invitations were sent out

The heartbreaking video of a bride walking into an empty venue has done the rounds online after guests didn’t show up to the wedding.

Kalina Marie took to TikTok to explain that she had digitally invited 75 people, and sent physical invites to 25 more, to attend her masquerade-themed wedding.

Sadly, they didn’t turn up, as the couple had to walk out with their son as three other people could be seen celebrating with them in the venue.

The social media user explained that they have been together for nine years, engaged for four, and that their wedding was delayed by the pandemic.

However, the turnout was not quite what they expected and Kalina posted the viral video with a lengthy caption.

With over six and a half million views at the time of writing, the caption accompanying the video read: “This is our entrance to our Masqurade [sic] ball. The Masqurade ball that I have talked EXCESSIVELY about for the last 10 months.

“The same ball that I not only digitally invited over 75 people to. But ALSO spent money to send 25 beautiful invitations out to,” she began.

“FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!!!!! Like, are you kidding me!?!? As you see in the video, we enter the venue. And no one is there,” Kalina revealed.

Adding that she started the event an hour later than planned to see if more people would show up, the bride revealed that they ‘made their entrance at 2pm to five people’.

Saying that she ‘dreamed’ of walking in to a full room of people in celebration, she instead was ‘a woman trying to hold herself together’ as she didn’t know how to deal with the venue being near empty.

Annoyed about the ‘wasted food and drinks‘ along with ’empty tables and chairs’, the group partied on, as she wrote: “Did we still make the most of it?? You bet your SWEET a** we did.

“But did this video just take all the good moments and shoot them out of the water for a second, f**k yeah it did,” she also admitted.

Kalina questioned if she was a bad person, if they didn’t matter enough for people to come through for them, and if they had the right ‘friends’ around them, as many never congratulated her or told her that they couldn’t make it.

The content creator concluded: “But all I know is, I have my man. My baby. And family that shows up when I need them. And for that, I will be thankful.”

In an explanation video uploaded days after the original, Kalina clarified details of the situation and answered questions from people about it all.

She said that they set an October wedding date in January this year, and that she has been ‘blabbing’ about it all on Facebook, as she made a Facebook event, adding that 25 invitations went out to elders and those without social media.

One user wanted to know what explanations they received from people that didn’t show up, and she replied saying that she didn’t know why so many people had bailed.

“I haven’t really received a lot of messages explaining why people weren’t there

or giving me excuses, and I’m kind of thankful for that,” she admitted.

“For the most part, we’ve done a lot of deleting and re-evaluating our lives and just spending a lot of time appreciating what we have and what we had,” Kalina summed up.
