The father of Sara Sharif has reportedly been attacked in prison, with the incident currently being under investigation by police.

Urfan Sharif and Sara’s step-mother, Beinash Batool, were sentenced to life behind bars after being convicted of killing the 10-year-old at their Surrey home.

Sara was found dead in her family home on 10 August, 2023, after her father Urfan called police and told them he had killed his daughter and left her body at an address in Woking, UK.

Authorities later discovered a note next to the child’s body, where Urfan further admitted responsibility for her death.

While the father and step-mother were found guilty of murder, Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, was found not guilty of murder but guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child.

After analysis, it was found that Sara’s body had 100 separate injuries, such as burns cause by an iron and human bite marks.

But weeks after Sara’s father was locked up, police are now investigating an alleged attack upon Urfan at Belmarsh Prison on Wednesday (1 January), according to The Sun.

It is said that he suffered cuts to his neck and face, later getting medical treatment in the prison.

A Prison Service spokesperson stated: “Police are investigating an assault on a prisoner at HMP Belmarsh on 1 January. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.”

The Sun report that the 42-year-old was attacked with a makeshift weapon made from a jagged tuna tin lid at the Categtory A prison, which houses some of the UK’s most dangerous inmates.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating an allegation that a prisoner was assaulted at HMP Belmarsh on 1 January. The victim, a 43-year-old man, suffered non-life threatening injuries.”

Sara was said to be part of a ‘campaign of torture’ that lasted two years, as she was hooded, burned and beaten until her death in August 2023.

Though Urfan and his wife were given life sentences, they were given a minimum of 40 years and 33 years behind bars, while Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, received 16 years of jail time for his involvement in the heinous crimes.

The day before her body was found, the three took Sara’s five siblings and fled to Islamabad, Pakistan, causing an international manhunt. After four weeks of hiding, they returned to the UK and were consequently arrested.

LADbible has reached out to the HM Prison and Probation Service for comment.

Inmates will be given a treat this New Year, as the prison is offering up a number of food choices

The New Year’s Day food menu at one of the country’s most terrifying prisons has been released, and it’s not what you’d expect.

The Category A men’s prison will have a number of bites on offer for inmates this 1st of January, as they have been given a special treat as 2025 arrives.

Known as ‘Monster mansion’, the prison has housed some of the most vile criminals in the UK’s history, with the likes of Soham child murderer Ian Huntley and serial killer Levi Bellfield held within their walls.

HMP Frankland, located in the village of Brasside in County Durham, is ranked at the highest level of security at A, meaning that prison staff will always be in the mindset that inmates may try to escape and/or may harm someone once outside, according to Prison Reform Trust.

But today, they will be given a choice with their food, as a number of healthy and diet-specific options are now up for grabs.

Some of the meals on offer include halal diced pepper and beef casserole, vegan schnitzel, salmon in sauce and roast turkey and gammon with chipolata sausage and stuffing.

The trimmings are roast potatoes or boiled rice with carrots and sprouts – essentially an entire roast.

That’s not the end though, there’s even more.

Prisoners will then be given the choice between Christmas pudding or fruit cocktail to fulfil their appetites.

The menus have been publicly released through the Freedom of Information Act following a request to the Ministry of Justice from Metro.

HMP Wakefield inmates – which has locked up the likes of Robert Maudsley, the UK’s ‘most dangerous prisoner’ – have been offered a vegan schnitzel, vegetable pie, halal chicken balti curry and cranberry and stuffing gourmet sausage roll.

As well as this, mains come with chips and peas as part of the nationwide festive catering taking place.

White Forest Roulade, vegetarian strawberry mousse and fruit are available for dessert.

HMP Manchester, formerly known as Strangeways, will give prisoners homemade vegetable or chicken curry, with rice and naan bread also available.

If that doesn’t take anyone’s fancy, a half-roast chicken with baby potatoes, seasonal vegetables and gravy is also on the menu.

Cake, custard and mince pies make an appearance on the menu too.

Manchester also has chicken barm bap, sliced cake, crisps, a chocolate bar and an orange available for tea time.

Other prisons across the UK offer up falafels, spinach burgers, a halal beef burger, and even chocolate fudge gateaux for dessert, among other items.

Inmates at Wakefield may win over everyone else though, as on top of the food on offer, they are given a carol service in the chapel, as well as pool and chess competitions.

Two men have been charged in connection with the shocking incident which unfolded at Manchester Airport earlier this year.

Mohammed Amaaz, 20, and Muhammed Amaad, 25, are being prosecuted for allegedly assaulting police officers who were responding to a dispute in Terminal 2.

At the time, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) released a statement which said: “Officers were called to reports of an altercation between members of the public in Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport.

“Whilst attempting to arrest one of the suspects of the earlier altercation, three officers were subject to a violent assault, where they were punched to the ground. A female officer suffered a broken nose and all three were taken to hospital for treatment.”

The force said four men were arrested at the scene, while a police constable was subsequently placed under criminal investigation for assault.

In the months that have passed since the incident, GMP has been investigating the members of the public who were involved.

Dually, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been carrying out a probe into the actions of the officers who were present.

Today, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced the outcome.

Amaaz has been charged with two offences of causing actual bodily harm, one charge of assaulting an emergency worker and one charge of common assault.

Charges are not being brought against any police officers.

Amaaz and Amaad will appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on 16 January.

GMP’s Chief Constable, Stephen Watson, revealed that the suspension of an officer involved in the incident had also know been lifted.

In a statement, he said: “I welcome today’s decisions from the Crown Prosecution Service to charge two men with assaults on our officers and a member of the public at Manchester Airport earlier this year.

“I also welcome their decision to take no further criminal action against serving officers. I appreciate that a full and thorough independent investigation has led to this outcome.

“Following this decision, I have lifted the suspension of the officer involved,” Waston continued.

“The IOPC’s misconduct investigation continues and we will continue to cooperate fully in this regard. Whilst co-operating fully with the IOPC in the discharge of their independent investigation into the conduct of our officers, GMP has offered support to our officers and will continue to do in the coming months.

“I know that these matters have understandably generated a great deal of debate, scrutiny and speculation. We now have specific charging decisions and the court proceedings must be allowed to progress without the prejudice or taint that can emerge as a result of misplaced commentary, speculation or the sharing of digital content.”

Frank Ferguson, Head of the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, said his team had reviewed masses of video footage, witness statements, expert reports and other material.

“Based on a careful consideration of this evidence, we have concluded that two men should be charged with offences including assaults on police officers,” he said, as per the MEN.

“We have concluded no charges should be brought against any officers. We examined potential offences of actual bodily harm, and common assault, and reviewed expert evidence in the form of an independent report from an expert in the use of police force, to inform this decision.

“We always ensure police training is also taken into account in the context of these decisions, and in this case the combination of evidence, and the expert opinion meant there was no realistic prospect of conviction. We acknowledge that in this case as in any other, the strength of feeling has been high.”

Kyle Clifford is wanted in connection with the killing of three women in Bushey, Hertfordshire

Police have apprehended triple murder suspect Kyle Clifford in North London.

Clifford, who is understood to have left the British Army in 2022 after a brief period of service, was found in the Enfield area this afternoon and has been receiving treatment for injuries. No shots were fired on the scene by police.

Earlier today, authorities could be seen scouring a cemetery in North London for Clifford after three women were allegedly shot dead with a crossbow in Bushey, Hertfordshire.

Clifford, 26, is currently wanted in connection with the killing of Carol Hunt, 61, and her two daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25.

Earlier today, it was reported that armed police officers and ambulance staff had focused their search at a cemetery in the Hilly Fields area of Enfield, North London.

Footage from the location was shared with PA, which appeared to show armed police officers scouring the area today (10 July).

Rae Cresswell, 26, a local resident who filmed it, told the news agency: “I was just in there minding my own business when I saw about 10 officers coming in, it was around 3pm I’d say. I was quite worried because they were armed and there were dogs with them.”

They continued: “I asked them if they wanted me to leave but they said it was fine to stay.

“They started checking the area so I left shortly after and came back to see all these vehicles.”

Speaking about the update in a statement Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “This continues to be an incredibly difficult time for the victims’ family and we would ask that their privacy is respected as they come to terms with what has happened.

“This investigation is moving at pace and formal identification of the victims is yet to take place. The premature naming of potential victims has caused great upset to the family when they should’ve been given the space to come to terms with their sudden loss.

“Following extensive inquiries, the suspect has been located and nobody else is being sought in connection with the investigation at this time.”

Meanwhile, tributes have been pouring in for BBC racing commentator John Hunt, who is the husband and father of the three victims.

statement from the British Horseracing Authority chief executive Julie Harrington, read: “The thoughts of everyone at the BHA are with John Hunt, his family and friends at this shocking and tragic time.

“It is impossible to comprehend the horror that has been inflicted upon them by this dreadful event.

“John is a great friend to many in our sport and I am sure that in this time of unimaginable grief for him, the racing family will rally around as we have seen many times before when one of our number is faced with great trauma.”

The teeny jail holds just two inmates

Did you know that the world’s smallest prison is actually located here in the UK?

The teeny tiny building can only hold two prisoners, but remarkably it’s still a working jail.

Sark Prison, located on the island of Sark on the Channel Islands, was built in 1856.

The island itself is super small – just 2.1 square miles with a population of 562 people (which is the equivalent of a village).

It’s a pretty breathtaking island, filled with greenery and plenty of coastal views.

Located between England and France, Sark is often referred to as the jewel of the Channel Islands.

Despite being so small, the prison is technically still in use. Of course, it’s changed a little today and now has electricity and heating.

It consists of two jails with a small corridor between them. Both jail cells have small, wood slatted beds with thin mattresses for inmates to sleep on.

The maximum jail time in the prison was two to three days, before the offenders were transferred over the Guernsey.

“The original Sark Prison stood near to where St Peter’s Church is today. Over time it became dilapidated and by 1832 the Arsenal was being used as an interim prison, despite being entirely unfit for purpose,” the Sark website explains.

“The little barrel-roofed two-celled prison we know today was eventually built in 1856 and is one of the world’s smallest prisons still in use.

“Judicial powers granted to Sark in 1583 allow a prisoner to be held for a maximum of two days. If the crime is severe enough to warrant further punishment the offender will be sent to Guernsey prison.”

It’s hard to imagine there would be much crime at all on an island like Sark.

However, a police officer who left the island in 2019 has claimed otherwise.

In a report to the island’s parliament – as per the Guardian – PC Mike Fawson said: “Sark in the past (and current) has been awash with people who have various criminal convictions, which in many cases we have no knowledge of until another offence is committed.

“There are many incidents that we cannot lawfully do anything about as we do not have the appropriate tools and laws at our disposal to deal with them, such as speeding, intoxicated driving.

“All Sark special constables and custody officers should be fully trained with and equipped with batons and Pava spray for self-protection and protection of the general public.

“In many cases when an unlawful incident occurs, the Sark police constables are met with a wall of silence and an unwillingness of people to make an official complaint that would enable someone being brought to account for their actions.”
