Insane price of a beer at Caesars Superdome for Super Bowl LIX

Some of you may be sitting at home right now, bitterly jealous of the 75,000 fans who have poured into the Caesars Superdome for Super Bowl LIX — but you may change your mind once you see the insane prices they’re forking out for a beer.

Yes, if you’re lucky enough to be heading to New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome to catch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in person, prepare to empty your wallet — because drinks at the stadium are going to cost you.

With kickoff set for 6:30PM local time (11:30PM GMT for those of you watching in the UK) on Sunday (February 9) around 75,000 fans will be watching live from the stadium.

Meanwhile, millions more will be tuning in from home, surrounded by nachos, dips, and a fridge stocked with drinks that are definitely cheaper than what’s on offer at the Superdome.

While the Super Bowl is obviously about football, it has long evolved into something much bigger. From the star-studded halftime show featuring Kendrick Lamar to viral commercials and celebrity appearances, it’s a full-blown cultural event.

And this year’s showdown is set to be even bigger, with Taylor Swift cheering on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and President Donald Trump confirmed to be in attendance. Oh, and then there’s the small matter of the Chiefs gunning for back-to-back-back Super Bowl victories.

A record TV audience? Wouldn’t be a surprise.

The Price of a Good Time

With all that cheering going on, fans will no doubt want to prevent becoming parched. However, prices at the food and drink stands have started hitting X (formerly Twitter), and I think I’d rather die of thirst.

Tweets from reporters and fans alike reveal that attendees will be paying $14 for American draft beer (Bud Light and Michelob Ultra), or a cheeky $16 for a Stella Artois.

Then there are the cocktails available. You can enjoy a “deluxe” cocktail for $17 or a “premium” cocktail for $27. (No wonder they’re named like that.)

Or if wine is your tipple, a class of Barefoot wine or bubbly will set you back $15 each.

For those looking to really splash out, there’s the Don Julio 1942 tequila cocktail, “Voodoo Magic,” for $59. And if you’re feeling extra bougie, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Brut will cost you $200.

But hey, it’s not all bad. You can still grab some chicken tenders and fries for $17. A whole pizza? $14 — honestly, not the worst stadium pricing we’ve ever seen. In fact, I’d definitely be saving my money for the food.

Last year, fans at Las Vegas’ $2 billion Allegiant Stadium were met with sky-high drink prices. A standard draft beer like Coors Light, Budweiser, or Bud Light set fans back $13.99, while premium options such as Modelo Especial, Michelob Ultra, Kona Big Wave, and Stella Artois hit $15.99. Want a can instead? A “deluxe” Budweiser or Bud Light was $15.99, while a “premium” can cost a staggering $17.99.

No doubt, if the Chiefs pull off a three-peat, we’ll be seeing a few of those champagne bottles popping in celebration — especially in the Kelce/Swift suite.
